Katie Holmes 'Fired' Tom Cruise's Daughter, Bella, From Fashion Line

During the entire Katie Holmes-Tom Cruise divorce saga thus far, we've noticed how much Katie has focused her attentions on her fashion endeavors (not to mention her daughter Suri). So it comes as no surprise that even before serving Tom with divorce papers asking for full custody, the mother also took a big step to protect her fashion line Holmes & Yang: She fired Tom's daughter from the company.

A source tells The Hollywood Reporter that Bella, Tom's 19-year-old adopted daughter from his marriage to Nicole Kidman, was abruptly fired from her post at Holmes & Yang just two months before Katie decided to formally end the marriage. According to the source, the decision seemed out of the blue:

There was never any trouble between them. Bella called Katie ‘Mom.’ She was fired out of the blue, and once Katie filed for divorce, it all made sense. This was a carefully planned ambush. Katie didn’t want Bella working for her anymore because she was Tom’s kid.

Some have taken Katie's actions as a sign that she was gearing up to leave Tom for months before the surprising announcement. While we can only speculate on that matter, we do know that the recent divorcee has certainly had fashion on the brain during the months leading up to the split. During an interview in the August issue of Elle, Katie announced that Holmes & Yang will be hitting the runway come September Fashion Week. So at least now that the whole divorce thing is out of the way (they settled today!), she can continue to focus her energies on her fashion endeavors.

Russia Floods Kill At Least 103

Intense flooding in the Black Sea region of southern Russia killed 103 people after torrential rains dropped nearly a foot of water, forcing many to scramble out of their beds for refuge in trees and on roofs, officials said Saturday.

Many people were asleep when the flooding hit overnight in the Krasnodar region, and the water rushed into the area around the hard-hit town of Krimsk with such speed and volume that rumors emerged that local officials had opened a nearby water reservoir. Muddy water coursed through streets and homes, in some cases high enough to flow over the hoods of cars and even as high as rooftops, according to witnesses.

People waded through waist-high water or maneuvered the streets in boats on Saturday. About 5,000 residences were flooded, the Krasnodar governor was quoted as telling the Interfax news agency.

"Nobody remembers such a flood in all (of the area's) history," Alexander Tkachev said.

The Interior Ministry gave the death toll as 103 on Saturday evening, according to Russian news agencies; a regional ministry spokesman said earlier that at least 67 of the deaths were around Krimsk, about 1,200 kilometers (750 miles) south of Moscow. Five people were electrocuted in the Black Sea coastal city of Gelendzhik after a transformer fell into the water, state news agency RIA Novosti said.

Anna Kovalevskaya, whose parents live in the flooded area, described water inundating their home up to the roof.

"In the town, people are saying that a reservoir in the mountains above was opened," she told the Moscow-based radio station Russian News Service. "A wave came from there. There was seven meters (22 feet) of water in the town."

Tkachev reacted angrily to the speculation, saying on his Twitter account: "Stop spreading stupid rumors ... Now is the time to get through things together, not mock."

President Vladimir Putin flew to the region Saturday evening, viewing the damage from a helicopter. He will also meet with regional officials in Krimsk.

Neringa Rekasiute: All Photo Shoots Are Challenging

Bloginity recently met young photographer Neringa Rekasiute, who explores art out of her studio in the cosmopolitan metropolis of London. She gives us some insight about her likes and preferences, including why she prefers film over to digital, who her favorite subjects to photograph are, as well as touching on the roots of her motivation. Neringa is a true generator of ideas. Find out more about her below.

Julija: When did you first become interested in photography?

Neringa:  I remember I was 13 and I took my parent’s camera out and about with me. I was taking pictures of my friends mainly – but I was already directing them, inventing scenarios in my seaside town of Lithuania. The camera broke after 3 months and the next time I got a camera into my hands was when I was 20. This time I never let it go again.

Julija: Do you remember who or what was in the first photograph that you took?

Neringa: Definitely. I even remember photographs I took when I was 13 – the colors, the outfits and the dynamics of the pictures. My friends wearing blue cowboy hats running in the sand dunes. And I remember the first photo shoot I did when I re-started photography – I asked my best friend Monika to put on a long black dress and dangerously walk on window sills outside of the flat. I caught the vibrations of the night and her silhouette. Her curly hair in the shimmering light. Oh, photography is so adventurous!

Julija: What do you like most about being a photographer?

Neringa: I adore the synergy you can achieve with the person you are shooting, the unison you can feel with the team, the harmonious moments when great art meets great adventure. I am directing my pictures so for me the most amazing thing is when the process just flows. The concept just fits into the moment and gets into new forms, new angles. I love working with people, searching for something that has never been done before, inscribing visual symbols into my images. Basically, I just love photography as an art form.

Julija: What cameras do you use?

Neringa: I do use my 35 mm camera. I use medium format and digital as well. I prefer film to digital, because digital makes me go mental and shoot 200 images instead of concentrating and getting really good 20 images. It’s all about quality for me… The quality of light, the quality of time – you need to take time with film.

Julija: What are your favorite subjects to shoot?

Neringa: Women – they are my ultimate subject. I just love the contradictory nature of women – she is a heroine to me. Strong, full of mysticism – an animal creature with the inner essence of God. I don’t think any man could ever fully understand this so I reckon this is my strength and I am concentrating fully on woman and the many different faces she has.

Alec Baldwin Married: Actor Weds Yoga Instructor Hilaria Thomas In New York City

Alec Baldwin and his yoga instructor fiancee tied the knot Saturday in a New York City church, with a guest list that included family and famous Hollywood pals.

Baldwin, 54, and Hilaria Thomas, 28, married at St. Patrick's Old Cathedral in a Catholic ceremony performed by the Rev. George Deas. His "30 Rock" co-star Tina Fey, as well as director Woody Allen and Baldwin's actor-brother, Stephen, were in attendance.

Thomas wore a silk magnolia Amsale gown with cap sleeves and a keyhole back neckline accented with crystal buttons. Baldwin's suit was designed by Tom Ford.

The two began dating last year and became in engaged in April. Baldwin was previously married to actress Kim Basinger; they have a daughter, Ireland, who attended the wedding Saturday in a slate silk chiffon gown also designed by Amsale.

The reception was being held at New York University's Kimmel Center.

The "Rock of Ages" actor warmly received congratulations from well-wishing fans on his way in for the service, said his friend and publicist, Matthew Hiltzik.

Hours before the ceremony, Baldwin tweeted lines from an Emily Dickenson poem. One read: "Was bridal e'er like this? A paradise, the host, And cherubim and seraphim The most familiar guest."

The wedding came about a week after Baldwin and a news photographer got into a scuffle outside of a courthouse where the actor was believed to have been picking up a marriage license. Baldwin and the photographer traded barbs over who shoved whom; no arrests were made.

12-Year-Old Boy Badly Injured After Dangerous Game Burns Cross On His Back

One 12-year-old boy from Pittsburgh, Penn., sustained second-degree burns on his back after engaging in a dangerous new teen fad with his brother and friends last weekend, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

The "salt and ice challenge" is making its rounds across YouTube and social networking sites. To play the game, kids press salt and ice against their skin for as long as they can tolerate the burning pain or until the injury - which is similar to frostbite -- becomes too severe.

WARNING, the below photo is graphic and may not be suitable for children.

According to WPXI-TV, the unnammed victim will need several months to recover and his family released a statement warning other students of the game's dangers:

“We want teenagers and the general public to know that the 'salt and ice challenge' is extremely dangerous. Videos on You Tube, Facebook and other social media do not accurately show the terrible injuries that can result. We are grateful that our son is recovering and hope that sharing his story will stop other young people from attempting this stunt."

The incident comes two months after school officials in the area expressed concern to parents that the fad was catching on with students -- sending a letter informing on the dangers of the game.
